Skyforge still alive?

I'm an old player but quit the game when the Developers changed the UI, and most of the old players quit too. I'm just wondering if there's any old player around, or the game is dead? If you are an old player like me, then probably you can remember my name 😁 Peace!

I never left, still here after 2 years. The Ascension update is still going strong though and we just had a new gear system added. I think you should take a look and decide for yourself if you think it's worth coming back to (by playing, ofc).

I played the beta, started playing on July last year. Concluded the main story, reached the god form, won many PvP and joined one of the best Patreon in that time (LoA) which allowed me to do distortions and other raids. It was my best experience in MMO.
Today I installed the game tho I heared about the changes and that the players left, but I wanted to see it myself.

I'm actually really sad. No more Atlas, no more complexity on building your character, the difficulty seems lighter... But the most shocking of all was seeing nobody on the Connections room, literally 4 players, instead of the large amount back in the days.

I really hope Skyforge's team realize they messed up and bring somehow the old Skyforge system back. It would be a pleasure to come back, but not with the actual system.

The game has changed significantly from older pre-Ascension days.  This is the equivalent of the NGE (New Game Experience) for Star Wars Galaxies.  Main difference in this game is that it is F2P with an RMT cash shop built-in so it'll only die when players decide to stop playing it completely.

I play just to burn time and because I do have some bursts of fun when playing with friends.  Not much else to it.

I don't care about PvP at all and the queue system is broken so one side-effect of that is making people LFG for groups instead of mindlessly hitting queue and hoping for a match.  The downside is that there's no communication about this and newer players who don't know about the queue issues will see 1+ hour queues, presume the game is 'dead' and then leave and never return.

I don't have detailed numbers on how much profit MyCom is making from this game but it must be enough money that they feel justified in the decisions they made.  Blizzard only recently decided to make Vanilla WoW servers after over a decade of people yelling at them to shut up and take their money if they did so.  Maybe in a decade if SkyForge is still around we can see a similar pre-Ascension official server released ;)

Hey there!  I just had a long conversation last night with Schala Xeal last night i believe about this stuff.  I am a new player to the game, and it looked different and interesting.  So far, I am having fun i got the free outlaw dlc from steam and been liking that so far.  I was watching videos and seen a few streamers playing in pvp which looked awesome!   However, i learned that there has been a PVP Bug for 2 years now? that people cant even pvp ?

Pvp may not be big to others, but pvp is huge to me and nearly a deal breaker..  I have PVE games i play already and I have games that i play PvP for i really was heart broken upon learning that MyCOM would allow this to stay broken for so long..

My question is after 2 years of this game seemingly dying.. is there a point to playing this?  Schala has informed me that the PVE content is really good and I want to believe them.  However, without the option to pvp.. and apparently the PS4 and PC community nearly dead..  is there a point to playing this game?

Any news on a possible fix for this "PvP Black Screen" being fixed?

The bug I referenced only seems to happen in 3v3 due to lighting issues as seen here:

Changing the options (lowering them) or modifying them or driver updates may fix things but since PvP pops so rarely it hasn't been extensively tested.  Maybe if KillShift gets back in-game then he can port people inside the PvP map to do tests or something.

The primary reason most people avoid PvP is that anything other than BoE (Battle of Equals) is completely unbalanced and even BoE has meta exploits where certain team compositions will be unstoppable.  Facing this and the lack of developer interest to balance things properly, most people decided not to engage in PvP at all.

Per our conversation last night, my strong recommendation is that any player looking to PvP in an MMO either go to other games or to MOBAs in general.  The MOBA community has essentially replaced PvP in most MMOs.

Hey make you have given me tons of good info for sure! However, tons of MMO's have great pvp still..   WoW, ESO, Conan, Swtor, BDO, etc etc etc..  so while i hear what your saying in that sense, i must disagree with the statement with respect.  I would really love to get this fixed.  But after doing a lot of research it seems as if the PC community is nearly dead.  It saddens me to learn this but Ill still tinker with the game.

As far as meta groups go.. thats as expected in every PvP game.  There will always be combos that will be better.  Thats why they have patches and nerfs / buffs it all balances out.

That bug is, as far as I know, exclusive to Xbox.

I would disagree with all of them, but everyone has different tastes.
WoW stopped being about PvP balance long ago.  It usually has flavor of the month OP class and everyone else is screwed if they don't follow the meta.
I'm not familar with ESO but I haven't heard of their PvP being particularly lively or active (first person combat tends to hinder that as well).

Age of Conan is a dead game.  Deader than dead.  Their last major content update was over a year ago in Oct 2016.  I don't consider that game to be a competitor to this one or any other MMO on the market.

You might as well mention WildStar PvP.

:Tais01:

SWTOR has the same problems as WoW but far worse.  Due to how armor works, heavy-armor classes get a significant advantage over any others without any of the drawbacks.  Not doing less dps and not doing less healing or anything.  Same types of CC as well.  I've played SWTOR PvP significantly and it is a mess just like WoW's PvP.  Not balanced one bit.

BDO is pay to win.  It is so pay to win that it makes this game look tame by comparison.  This game at least doesn't 100% revolve around PvP to progress.  BDO has mandatory unavoidable world PvP if you want to have access to progress your character, obtain wealth/property, or do anything other than standing around in town twiddling your thumbs.

I'll still stand by my reasoning that there is not ONE single MMORPG on the market today that has decent balanced fun PvP.  I will give a nod to 'HuttBall' in SWTOR was one of the most fun and amusing things I participated in during my time with the game (before meta derps and smurfs ruined it).  The key word is balanced.  By balance I mean asymetric 'rock paper scissors' style of balance.  Chun Li versus E.Honda style of balance.  Ryu vs Ken style of balance.  Having the tools available to players to counter a certain strategy or adapt to change on the fly.

I remember you, you always rekt me in PvP, anyways..yeah that's all.

I also am Old player and I quit shortly after Ascension update, I see some of my friends are 749m prestige and blaah I am only 16m prestige, already seems to me like I'll never catch up to that, I haven't installed nor downloaded game yet, I am wanting to return, but don't know if the game is near-dead state or dead yet? I also saw new-looking weapons for each class, with avatar design that gives special stats like one for Necromancer that gives "Minions do 25% more damage" I was wondering also if game became harder and/or P2W in any ways? I need answers before I decide to install or not

I just wanted to comment on ESO since you covered the others quite well. ESO's PvP initially was a very cool idea. Three massive groups fighting in a giant zone over control of towers and scrolls in an effort to win the central city. But it's turned into mainly zerg fests. Plus getting the required gear often means doing a large amount of PvE content, a mix of both raiding and a large amount of crafting. Then the new battlegrounds are similarly imbalanced to other MMORPGs.

I agree with the poster who said that if you want to pvp you should just play a different genre. MOBAs are great. Smite is my choice for one that is more similar to MMO style combat.
